Update 0.3.1 — Quick Race Comes to the Demo (Minor Release)

This is a minor release — a small, focused patch on top of 0.3.0. No new systems this time: just one player-requested addition for the demo and a tidy stack of fixes, so The Undercut runs cleaner heading into Steam Next Fest. Here’s everything that changed.

New: Quick Race in the demo

For everyone trying the game during Next Fest, we’ve added Quick Race to the demo. If you don’t want to set up a full career first, you can now jump straight into the live 2D race action and see the on-track simulation — overtakes, pit stops, the lot — in a single click.

The Undercut — cars lined up on track in the live 2D Quick Race mode

It’s the fastest way to get a feel for what the race engine looks like before diving into the full management layer.

Fixed

This release also clears out a batch of bugs reported since 0.3.0:

  • Crash on the team presentation at the start of season 2 and beyond — fixed.
  • Black squares in place of arrows, checkmarks and sponsor logos on some GPUs — resolved.
  • Black asset flash at the very end of race loading — gone.
  • Free practice HUD was mislabelled as “Qualifying” — now correct.
  • Run-plan Back button wasn’t working — fixed.

That’s it for this one — small, but it smooths out some rough edges right when new players are arriving. As always, if you hit a bug:

  1. Keep Race Debug Dumps ON (Settings → Display, default),
  2. Reproduce the issue,
  3. Zip the matching debug/race_<ts>_gp<NN>/ folder,
  4. Drop it on Discord with a short description.

Thank you to everyone testing, reporting and wishlisting. See you on the grid.
